Abstract.
Range voting requires voters to assign a valuation from [0, 1] for each alternative, then picks the alternative who has obtained the highest average score to be the winner. In this paper, we provide a semantical interpretation for range voting and define a new axiom NA (neutralization of attitude) regarding the information of qualitative judgement. Then we give a simple axiomatization of range voting. Moreover, two additional conditions are introduced to recognize a legitimate winner after aggregation procedure.
